This paper explores the ethics of giving psychotherapeutic advice to soldiers.  Some psychotherapeutic schools, such as psychoanalysis and person-centred counselling, teach therapists that it is not advisable to give advice.  Instead, the therapist is taught to ask leading questions designed to allow the client realise their own issues.  However, Human Givens brief psychotherapy suggests that advice might be therapeutically given through using various tools.
